My Favorite Firefox Extensions

Firefox is quickly becoming the browser of choice and for obvious reasons. With it’s add-on functionality (extensions) and keen user interface Firefox is an award-winning free browser. It also protects you from viruses, spyware and pop-ups. Internet Explorer just doesn’t have the flexibility or features to adapt with the ever evolving internet world. Here’s my list of favorite Firefox extensions in no particular order.

Web Developer
If there’s one Firefox extension to plug, it’s the Web Developer toolbar. It has a huge number of features and plenty of goodies: you can outline highlights, common elements and links without title tags; images show sizes, alt tags and oversized images; forms enable you to manipulate form elements and submission methods; cookies enable you to add, delete and disable cookies; and there’s much more.

Google Toolbar
This toolbar is a given if you need Google Page Rank and other Google features. I use the information button all the time to view cached snapshot of page, backward links, and similar pages. It’s another tool for my SEO toolbelt.

Google Browser Sync
This is my latest and greatest Firefox extension. If you’re like most people, you’ve got a computer at work and at home with your bookmarks spread all over the place. This extension solves that problem. You can synchronize your browser settings across computers and restore tabs and windows from your previous session. So if you find a great site at work and want to transfer it to your home computer, just bookmark it! Next time you login at home, it’ll be there. Love it!

Google Send to Phone
Everyone sends text messages these days but not everyone likes to reply. I’ve got a BlackBerry so it’s easy with the QWERTY keyboard but for those poor souls with Razors or other small keyboards, I’d recommend this plugin. You can send a quick text message to anyone directly from your browser. Just type in the number, and select the service provider from the drop-down.

FoxClocks
If you have friends or co-workers in different countries around the world, then you probably struggle to figure out when it’s a good time to call them. FoxClocks is a great small extension that can display multiple clocks in the statusbar/toolbar for any of hundreds of cities.

Roboform Toolbar
If you haven’t heard of Roboform before then listen up. If you’re tired of filling in the same personal information over and over on web sites, this is the tool for you. Roboform is the top-rated Password Manager and Web Form Filler that completely automates password entering and form filling. RoboForm was named PC Magazine Editor’s Choice, and CNET Download.com’s Software of the Year.

SnagIt Screen Capture
Here’s another time saving utility for capturing screen shots. SnagIt Firefox extension makes it extra easy to capture anything on your screen while giving you complete control over every aspect of the screen capture process. SnagIt is a life-altering tool for my marketing team. I honestly get many thank yous and “SnagIt” stories on a monthly basis. I always like to plug this product because I don’t think it gets the credit it deserves.

This list will continue to grow as I discover additional useful Firefox extensions. An extension I’m still looking for is one that syncs up my extensions across all browsers. Basically just like the Google Browser Sync extension but for Firefox extensions. Anyone willing to build something like that for me?
